“Every human being has the same potential for compassion; the only question is whether we really take any care of that potential, and develop and implement it in our daily life.” His Holiness the Dalai Lama, The Art of Happiness: A Handbook for Living

Compassionate Leadership -- what this Program is About...

Most leaders are conditioned to put business before benevolence - to lead with their heads, and leave their hearts apart. The public press profile of a good leader routinely includes attributes like tough, hard-nosed, ruthlessly-rational and results-driven. ‘Hard-headed’ (or is that ‘hearted'?) managers still associate compassion with being sentimental, mushy, or taking a too softly-softly approach when we should be business-like, stern and stoic..

Yet this is changing. More organisations are becoming interested in a more compassionate style of leadership - in leading with feelings. This shift towards more emotionally intelligent, caring, empathetic leadership begs the question: “What does it take to become a compassionate leader and how can I inspire my management teams and staff to become more caring when dealing with customers, clients and each other?”

Compassionate Leadership: Making space for compassion in leadership, life and work is an emotional intelligence Master Class for leaders who want to extend their ability to connect with others and become a more resonant and mindful leader.  It assumes you have already undertaken some learnings on fundamental practices for EI leaders -- like our Personal Mastery: Leading with EI clinic (or something similar).

Presented in either a 1 or 2-day format, this interactive forum explores how to take the next steps to raise your level of emotional intelligence and mindfully integrate compassion into your leadership mix through resonance and active self-reflection.  The program aims to help you:

bullet

See how well compassion fits with practical and productive leadership

bullet

Assess your leadership levels of resonance and dissonance

bullet

Experience how compassion helps handle hostility and toxic emotions

bullet

Develop strategies to deter leader-stress and enact self-renewal

bullet

Cultivate a more connective and resonant leadership style

bullet

Explore exercises that help to maintain mental balance and emotional well-being

Read more on the subject of compassionate leadership in our introductory Article "The Compassionate Leader", our FactFile extracts "About Compassionate Leadership", our feature FactFiles on compassion and connectivity and our seasonal newsletter featuring this topic: CC E-NEWS Issue-10.

And for more information on this clinic including course outline and registration form, download the 1-day course Flyer or full 2-day program Brochure here.

*Note: Pre-requisite for this program: Prior learning on the subject of Leading with Emotional Intelligence. It will be assumed you are already aware of the fundamental concepts about emotional intelligence and key principles for leading with EI.
