Bill Cropper here with a reminder that as part of our Outback Training Odyssey this year,  I return to Mt Isa July 23, 24 & 25 with 3 x 1-day coaching clinics designed to help you lead better with emotional intelligence, deal with difficult performers and tackle tough talks.

Reduced Fees apply for attending 2 or more clinics – details below.  Attend 1, 2 or all 3 and take-away some down-to-earth tools, practical tips and some of our well-regarded self-coaching guidebooks to help put your learning into action back-at-work. We’ll need to know by July 16 if you’re keen to come along, so nominate first and we’ll follow up with an invoice… And please let your colleagues and friends around the region know…

Hard issues and contentious conversations are something all leaders are expected to take in their stride. Yet for most of us, it really tests our conversational and emotional self-management capacities. Many managers wind up more adept at sidestepping confrontation than confronting it constructively. How well leaders and teams face up to difficult moments and resolve differences, is a true yard-stick of healthy work cultures.

* The Emotionally Intelligent Leader July 23 – Emotional Intelligence is simply the most critical and rewarding life-skill anyone can learn. Emotional self-management matters for good leadership, good work and good teams. How we lead, work in with and motivate others and how well we handle ourselves in stressful situations all comes down to our level of emotional intelligence.

This fast-track seminar overviews 7 practices of emotionally Intelligent leaders and takes you through selected tools to cultivate connectivity, build more constructive team relationships and manage difficult situations more mindfully. [Is this right for you? Review Course Outline here]

“I wanted to understand EI and how it affects my own and others’ performance at work. This was a very powerful learning opportunity, an excellent day appropriately structured and managed, that opened my eyes to just how important EI is in all aspects of personal, family and working life.” Justine Lawson – CQU

* Tackling Tough Talks July 24 – A fast-track version of our long-established Dealing with Difficult Discussions program.  This very full day looks at ways to take the heat out of hard talks with the help of a unique 7-stage model and set of easy-to-use conversation tools that can make a real difference to every challenging situation you face.

We’ll unpack what actually goes on when talk becomes tense and walk through key steps for taking a more methodical, balanced approach to converting destructive discussion into constructive confrontation.  [Is this right for you? Review Course Outline here]

“I wanted to increase my skill levels in dealing with difficult discussions both at work and personally and this was a very good, very informative workshop with some very good and useful tips. Bill presented the topic very well and kept everyone engaged and focused.” Helen McKenzie, Mackay Health Service

* Positive Performance Conversations July 25 – Tackling poor performers is one of the most commonly avoided kinds of difficult discussion. It does have to be tackled eventually though, because poor individual performance can spread, destabilise the team and undermine the respect people have for you as a leader, if you keep steering clear of them all the time.

This tailored clinic shows you how you can turn around poor performance by re-focusing on the positives you want to see, rather than the dwelling on negatives you don’t. We take you on a step-by-step tour of carefully-crafted footings, frameworks and formulas to help you deal with difficult performers more competently and comfortably and make hard performance conversations easier. “A comprehensive and engaging workshop. A very good program and useful toolkit to support skills in managing poor performance – have already recommended it to others as I feel much more confident to bring up performance issues after this course. Thanks, a great workshop." Lisa Baker, Qld Health
