Is trauma something that concerns you at work?

G’day – Bill Cropper here.  In one of my clinics a while ago I was struck by how visibly shaken one person was as she revealed her story of a caustic co-worker who'd relentlessly tyrannised her. It reminded me we don’t always take as much notice of trauma as we should – and that you don’t have to be in an accident or emergency to be affected by trauma.

I'm convinced a lot of troubling behaviour we come across at work stems from work-based trauma of some sort. Trauma left untended can keep on triggering distressing reactions, drain our reserves of resilience, affect how we behave, how we cope at work and our ability to do our jobs.

Do something positive to address work-based trauma in 2018...

·       Learn ways to look after yourself and look-out for your workmates

·       Pick-up valuable first-aid tools, tips and strategies to resist trauma

·       Strengthen your leader role as emotional caretaker and trauma-support

"I thoroughly enjoyed this session – very pertinent and real-life. The activities were useful and very engaging. Content was great and Bill's knowledge of the topic was excellent. Being more aware of the warning signs to identify trauma, and practising hands-on first-aid strategies to help was most useful”

Ally T, Qld Government Service Centre

Trauma happens to you on the inside...

Resisting it relies on what you can do to help yourself (or others). There's a lot of benefit to be had from working on your own trauma-resistance management strategies – and this clinic revolves around a set of Trauma-Resistance and Resilience-Building tools that can help you do that.

Trauma reduction and resistance strategies like the ones I cover in this clinic may be needed more and more in future, as our ever-busier workplaces count the cost of stressful work environments, oppressive cultures, toxic teams, over-bearing bosses, disengagement, lack of empathy and support, and strained relationships.

“I really enjoyed this training and it's so important to complete to get an awareness of trauma. The activities and handbook were most useful as was the awareness that anyone can be a support.”

Erin, Dept Justice & Attorney-General

What inspired Resilience-Based Trauma Training?  It’s had a lot to do with my involvement over the last 15 years, helping workplaces build emotional intelligence capacities such as self-management, resilience, mindfulness, positivity, connectivity and focus – all sources of trauma resistance self-help and support strategies, as I’ve since found out.

Turn the tables on Trauma at Work…

Track and contain trauma using our 5 Trauma-Resistors and Resilience-Builders – self-help tools to help you feel more in control and to be able to  assist others more effectively

Resilience-Based Trauma Training can benefit anyone who wants to pick up basic self-help practices to support themselves or help colleagues to handle trauma - whether  it's  incident, accident or work-based, direct or indirect.

This clinic is also for those who play a part in trauma support or want to lift their ability to be of more potential help - line managers, supervisors, OHS or /HR co-ordinators and peer supporters.

Resilience-Based Trauma Training comes with a Trauma Self-Help & Support Pocket Guide to use yourself and to help others back at work.

No psychology or role plays… Just real tools to test out for yourself!

Please Note - this first-aid, self-help clinic for trauma-support is not to be mistaken for clinical, procedural or therapy-based trauma-care - which are beyond its scope. It's also not to be seen as a substitute for proper professional trauma-counselling and support.

"Really relevant to work and life with a very engaging presenter who obviously knows it and lives it. You are very good at what you do and thanks for the great little pocket guide for reference" Bernadette, Queensland Courts Service
