“Well worth attending. As a supervisor, it was beneficial for me to reflect on my own role in how to raise difficult issues with staff and reach amicable resolutions. Learning real, practical and proven tools relevant to ‘real life’, often stressful situations was very empowering... I’m glad I attended.” Hamish T. Reef HQ

A key role leaders are expected to play is dealing with challenging conversational situations. And they’re generally expected to do it with composure, calm and outcomes that achieve a satisfactory resolution for everyone.  Fewer of us, however, can actually accomplish this with ease and confidence!

Usually, the last thing anyone feels like doing in a difficult discussion situation is connect with the other person – especially if they (or you) are busily disconnecting by being blaming, disapproving, acrimonious or even abusive.

But that’s often exactly what’s needed. Connecting is finding common ground, reaching shared understanding, engaging, truly listening and suspending judgment – all crucial for resolving contentious or uncomfortable moments.
